Herr Lichtenwald is one of
Bavaria's premier artists. His carvings adorn homes
and mantles throughout the world. Unlike
Mahlknecht carvers,
his figures are carved from mountain pine and have a
rough-hewn look - as if they were carved in an alpine shop
- which they are!
Herr Lichtenwald's small
workshop is in the shadow of the Zugspitze in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
He also is known for his bronze and gold-leaf work as well
as restoring old relics.
