1899
Trained Craftsman, Edmund Oswald Mueller, starts a small wooden toy
business with his wife Lina at Schindelberg 8, in Seiffen. This was the
establishing foundation of the family business that continues to this
day. Edmund used tools borrowed from his father-in-law, Oswald Langer,
who owned the Roscher-90 mill.
The
first products consisted of miniatures including; miniature chambers
inside match boxes, cars, aircraft and jewelry made out of wood.
1914
Real estate is purchased at Haupstrasse 132. A house with attached
workshop is built after the meadow and land are drained and cleared of
water and rock. This also allows horse carts to come and go to the
house. 1918 A large shed is built in which to store wood.
1919 Finishing the extension of the living house. A so called "Fuchsschwanz"
is used to cut wooden trunks in quarters without loss.
1926
The Muellers attend the Leipzig fair for the first time offering a
catalogue showing their entire product line.
1929
The world is slipping into a deep economic crisis making products more
difficult to sell. It becomes more necessary than ever to go abroad
looking for new business so that the company can survive. 1936
The name of the company "ERZ-GEBIRGISCE KLEINKUNST" is registered at the
Deutschen Patent-und Markenamt.
